I hope none of you are Christians. If you can not be informational please go be bitter on someone else's post. Fyi, I pay rent just like everyone else and I pay taxes year around. Im actually one of the few who don't plan on staying on it but I will make sure me and my daughter have a great and stable future before I pass it one. Anything can happen in this world please don't not judge someone. I'd hate for you or your family and or friends to get into a situation. I pray for people's growth not tear them down. So rest assured your taxes will be safe when me and my daughter arrive. I pray you all prosper and have a great year.

A single mother with a child is the most badly treated demographic by society. I understand that one makes life choices, but talk bout getting the short end of the stick. Help is very appropriate. Everyone saying bad things about this is really lame. Of course a single mother would want to be near family so she has a support network. That's perfectly acceptable. The female hate and misogyny is obvious from all the nasty posts. Thanks for the reminder; greatly appreciated.

Of course, I'm being sarcastic. I'm all for helping folks that truly need a hand. Any one of us could be the one needing help next time.

I am a Christian and I advocate for charity, but it shouldn't be forcibly taken from me to be redistributed at someone else's discretion. It's outright theft. Charity should be the function of churches and non-profits not the government. Forgive me if I'm bitter, but personally I feel you should be ashamed for accepting it.

Kind of a generalized statement isn't it? You don't know this woman, her background or her situation. She isn't coming off sounding like a freeloader looking for a lifetime free ride. Some people take advantage of the system and others just truly need help. When lower waged jobs don't provide enough for someone to afford even a basic, clean apartment -- something has to give. How would you suggest that be handled? Should she and her child live on the streets if her wages don't pay for an apartment at today's market rate? Some people because of life choices or circumstances aren't qualified for higher paying jobs -- some of those people are making strides to improve by trying to work their way up or work with part time schooling.

I don't like the fraud involved or the sometimes unsavory people that live in section 8 but I also recognize, some people do need a temporary leg up in order to be able to better themselves in the future. There are some good people who have no choice but to live in section 8.

She said she is a CNA. That is a lower paying job but a very needed profession. Very few of us are fortunate to go through life without temporarily needing a CNA at some point for either ourselves, our family or an elderly parent. A caring CNA is very valuable. Unfortunately the pay would be difficult to live in in a one income family. I'm not a fan of section 8 but if wages aren't enough to live on, I'm not sure of better option or solution.

So what you are saying is you aren't much of a christian... You can be ashamed of the government for offering the charity that comes out of your pocket, but to take it out on the single mom who is trying to not be a leech on the government long term by bettering herself, you are the one who should be ashamed...

How can one claim to be Christian, and then come here and judge someone asking for help? I'd bet my salary that if Jesus (a poor, Middle Eastern refugee) showed up on your doorstep today, some of you would probably shoot him and then come here to brag about it.

I'd also bet that while you're shaming this woman for needing help, you'd also shame her if she chose NOT to have the child that she now needs help to care for. You know, cause everyone has the right to live...unless they're poor when they get here, then screw 'em...cause Murica.
