Houston Press: Break out the parkas, salt the walk and get those snow tires on: A cold front is forecast for Houston.

Temperatures may drop to a frigid 65 degrees by Tuesday night (better bring those delicate plants inside). And the highs may only reach the nippy mid-80s during the early part of the week.
The average high is 88 degrees in September and 81 in October. So cherish the brief moments where we won't be swimming in humidity.

Fall Will Finally Arrive in Houston | Houston Press

Huh??? I am confused...
How frigid is 65F or how nippy is mid-80's?

Houston usually gets its first "real" cold front around Halloween.

I remember sometime in mid August, my husband was saying how he was looking forward to September because it "cools down". I just laughed, as I am firmly of the opinion that the entire month of September was, is, and always will be, still Summer. I don't think the weather here is nice until mid to late October.

All of the cold weather gear we had to spend money on when we lived in Denver didn't see the light of day at all last year. I never wore anything heavier than my Columbia fleece......but, I don't have to endure the occasional 10 inch snowfall here either, so it evens out.

65F is cold to me brrrrrr! Time to break out the Members Only jacket. Actually this is good news as football season is in full swing, and I have to get acclimated to cold because my old high school always plays a few weeks into December, and my college football team is likely to play on New Years Day like they did last year

Hmm. Well, in November we will start to have realistic cool/cold spells. Here's a toast to November and reality.
