I heard an add for a company named Billfixers who claim they can save you all kinds of money on your monthly home services bills such as internet and cable. On their website they claim to save their customers on average $350 a year. My question is has anybody in the Houston area used a service like this, and does it work to lower your cost, and by how much ?

Yes, I used Billshark and it worked very well.

Enrollment was easy and I used their app to upload copies of my bills (I had them do internet, cable, phone, burglar alarm, and XM satellite radio).

All told they saved me about 800 bucks over a year, mostly with the cable, internet, and phone. They charged about 40%, but it was essentially free money to me.

Yes I could have called all of those places on my own and have done that before, but I don’t think I would have gotten it down as far and this saved me from all the phone dickering, “need to talk to the supervisor”, etc.

Once my “shark” started working the account she spent about an hour on it. Great communication - she was texting the whole time (easiest thing for me to do, they will call too). She always was very clear on what she was doing and making sure she had my ok to, say, sign a 1 year contract. I was pretty amazed actually, she was good.

Only downside is I waited a month after I signed up to get my account worked but I think they had a big influx because it was on the NBC network news that week.

I used BillFixers last year and saved like $1100 on my bills (Spectrum, DirecTV, and Sprint.) After their split that was $550 I didn't know I could get so I think it was money well spent. Talked to a guy named Shayne over there who was very friendly and I'll be using them again this year if my prices go up again. Took about a week all told and I'm very happy with it and have recommended them to a bunch of friends.

Can't speak to other companies although I did do some research beforehand and chose billfixers after reading some scary stories about billshark online. I haven't heard of billslashers though. Good luck!
