Im thinking of moving to Houston and i want to know if it is a good place to live for a young gay black man? Is it very diverse or segregated? I would appreciate any and all advice, if not Houston what Texas city would be a good one to move to?

Houston is very diverse and welcoming of diversity. However, my opinion is that the black gay community is pretty (self-?) segregated from other ethnic groups. Exceptions apply, but this is just what I've seen/experienced in my 10 years in Houston. Perhaps this is the way it is in many large cities, where there are enough gay people to allow for niche bars and clubs. I would think that smaller towns would actually be more integrated because there are probably only a handful of social outlets to choose from.

I'm not black, but my partner is, and he has confirmed that this is his opinion as well.

With all that said, this is a fine place to be gay and to be black, as are the other cities in Texas.

Houston is fine to be gay if your Black, White, Latino, Asian.

Very diverse and nice city. People get along very well. More than other cities I've lived in.

You will have NO issues here.

Your best choice would be an area where young and single is the main description. The gay and black part is immaterial in Houston.

I would say you will fit in about as well as a gay black man would in any major city. 2 strikes against you, just kidding, Good Luck LoL

Houston is just as bigotted and intolerant as any other non-West-coast top 10 metropolitan area. Nothing to be fearful of, overall.

Just sayin'...

I am assuming that you deleted the post - otherwise, it was me (since it now looks like the first post since 2008) - and I know that's not true!
