South of Loop 610, the south freeway corridor is still largely undeveloped (the area between 288 & 610). I was thinking maybe Prarie View could move to the Southside of Houston, this way you'd have TSU, UH & Prarie View A&M all in close proximity.

LOL....that'll never happen as if history could repeat itself as PV would've landed in Cypress knowing what eventually came and TSU would've never been gifted the land they're on now as they would've been pushed out

Both PV and TSU has tried to expand as TSU was looking at Acres Home at one time and PV wanted to expand in the northwest as they have a 249 campus.

TSU is only 150 acres so they could move their campus if it ever came to that while PV is 1,000-plus and there's nothing close to that nearby.

However, community colleges are the biggest threat as they can now offer some 4-year degrees at a cheaper cost and UH is all over.

Why would they though? Being in close proximity to TSU doesnt do anything for them.

Id re-word the thread too. It makes it sound like they are doing that.

Enrollment could possibly increase for PV since it would be in the city. The downside is that TSU could lose enrollment because knowing how close PV would be, it would be a bigger competition than there already is between the two HBCUs.

My guess is he's thinking of Houston having a similar setup to the AUC in Atlanta where you have all of the city HBCUs located in the same neighborhood.

Honestly, I have always found it strange that PV was located way out in the country and I'd bet the students wish they were closer to town.

But doesn't TSU offer its own unique programs like its health/medicine? It might end up the much smaller school but wouldn't necessarily have to become irrelevant.

at the time the land was granted to PV just like how someone donated the land to TSU. If both could do it over PV is closer and TSU would grab more land around the school but it will take political influence to claim what's nearby and not sure which politician will risk their future to do that.

the AUC is all private schools

Default Its all POLITICS

All the University Money and power is controlled by a few relatively corrupt and powerful people including politicians. This was quite evident when UT tried to put a Data Research campus in Houston. The corruption and self interests became obvious and Houston lost a beautiful addition to its Tech scene.

A&M finally get desegregated and Prairie View gets absorbed into Texas A&M itself. The same happens for TSU and UH after TSU fails accreditation for the 3rd time and the Lege is tired of their poor financial decisions too.

Somehow A&M needs to be closer to Houston, so they build a new campus for the merged school in Hockley. The TSU campus becomes the western extension of the main UH core. What a good place to place the Obama Presidential Library!
