I was born and raised in rural northern Florida, while my girlfriend grew up in LA. Were looking for a place where there's some of both to be had. A strong Mexican presence, quality authentic food, Spanish speakers, cultural diversity. Good barbeque, a swampy woodsy feel, access to hiking and hunting, friendly people.

Does that sound like Houston to you? What areas of the metro best fit this description?

We'd be buying a house for up to $370k. In our late 20s so access to nightlife, max 35 mins to central area of Houston. Going to want to meet new people and form connections in the area. I'm conservative and my gf is liberal so nowhere too polarized. Decent White and Hispanic presence.
Thanks.

Sounds exactly like Houston actually. The only thing that Houston isn’t known for out of your paragraph would be hiking. Being someone who likes hiking myself, the Buffalo Bayou and the Woodlands have some very nice trails that keep me content

Whyd you make duplicate posts?

Houston has a lot of hiking opportunities: 8 hours drive to Big Bend, 8 hours to Palo Duro Canyon, 3 hours to Hill Country, 60-90 min to Sam Houston National Forest. Few state parks nearby. And there are some decent city level parks that have trails (Keith Wiess, George Bush, Bear Creek, Lake Houston Wilderness, etc.).
