Project would take place in Houston ship channel and open via phases up until 2030, with the possibility to expand through 2040.

Carbon capture and sequestration projects are a critical component of offsetting the impact of climate change, but there needs to be better government funding and tax incentives to get companies interested in investing in projects like these. 45Q was a good start but most non-EOR sequestration projects remain uneconomic at the $50/per ton CO2 price point. Forward-thinking states like CA and OR already have attractive tax credits in place, despite their relatively limited storage capacity - I'm hoping TX and LA government consider implementing similar policies because we are sitting on perhaps the best geology in the country for carbon sequestration (e.g., tons of depleted and saline reservoirs).
