Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a really good ergonomic office chair. I need it drafting height, with adjustable arms, not just up and down but side to side too. I would like to go to a store and try out the chair, even if I have to order it to be delivered, as I know that often times drafting height chairs aren't in stores.

Looking for something that is better quality than what Office Depot and Staples and other big box stores has.

I really don't know Houston well, so I appreciate your tips thanks.

do a search for houston office chairs. 3 sites I looked at from that search are Lindseys, DFSI, and Carrolls. Start with used chairs, as they are far cheaper. I bought a used high end ergonomic office chair 18 months ago for $250 that retails at $1500+ new.

For half that price, you can get a used Herman Miller Aeron chair that is far better, in my opinion.

I would go on FB Marketplace or Craigslist and get a gently used Aeron chair. This is what we have on our office, and it's the only chair I will likely EVER have (and they last a long time). They come in three sizes to better fit your frame.

Another recommendation to check CL/Nextdoor/FB marketplace - it's not difficult to find high-end chairs for pennies on the dollar.

I got my Humanscale Freedom chair on Nextdoor and I'm very happy with it.

I've had a Herman Miller Aeron chair and now have a couple Humanscale chairs -- Diffrient (my primary) and a Liberty. When the kids were schooling from home, i picked up a Herman Miller Setu chair. Both HM chairs were eBay finds at less than 50% retail and in great condition. Humanscale is an old client, so i got those cheap.

Anyway, my point is (and as other have already recommended above), both brands are solid and used chairs are not hard to find. A drafting version may be harder to track down, though. My recommendation is that you just go to the Herman Miller website and find Houston dealers. They have their own store in the Woodlands, as well, and they own Design Within Reach which is in the Galleria area. While they may not carry a drafting version, you can try the regular Aeron chair to see if you like it. I would expect the drafting version to feel similar. From there, you could probably order one, or you can then search online for a lightly used model. Note that Aeron comes in 3 sizes, so you'll want to note which works for you. The "B" would be the "fits most" size, but i'm sure the product page can guide you. Good luck!

There is a HUGE difference in quality between any of the chairs from Office Depot/ Staples and the ones from quality contract furniture manufacturers like Herman Miller, Steelecase, Humanscale, etc. I agree with everyone who says get a used quality chair over a new cheaper chair.

Thanks, I'll look into the sites you recommended.
