I don't think you will find anything remotely livable in that price range, even in Baytown. You might be able to buy some land but that is about it. I take it back...there were 5 places listed but from the look, I'm not sure if they are livable. Check out: Houston Real Estate - Houston Homes, Houston Home Value and Houston Relocation

uuh I don't think you can find that. You might find something in the 70's and even that won't be the most desirable of neighborhoods. Houston is cheap compared to the rest of the country but not that cheap.

The northern part of Clear Lake is nice (zip 77062), has homes in your price range and is about 20-30 mins from Baytown with tolls, 30-40 minutes without.

Deer Park is even closer with quaint neighborhoods and cheaper per sq ft, but is a stone's throw away from refineries. Don't know much about that area except some folks here recommend it.

Oh well...that's different then. What T-stone said about Deer Park and Clear Lake is good. You might also want to check out neighborhoods in Barbour's Hill east of Baytown. It is a nice area with good schools and has some neighborhoods w/ acreage, depends on your life style.

I can't remember the name, but I do remember that someone here had a big ole house in Baytown in that price range, maybe a little higher. And she was trying to sell it and had a hell of a time finding someone who wanted it. Not much of a shock, as real estate = location, location, location and Baytown is... well... Baytown. She'd probably have a lot more luck if the house was worth about 1/3rd.
