Many of the areas in Houston that I looked at previously were pretty inside the neighborhood, but as soon as you left the neighborhood, all you saw was stip malls, etc.

Sounds like Wilchester is my first choice. I'm looking at Nottingham too.

Thanks everyone!

It's is a very easy place to live. And when City Centre opens, it will have even more to offer.
There're a few For Sale By Owner houses in the area that won't show up on the Har.com. I PM'ed you with the location of one.

The oldest home on the market there was built in 2000.

It may be an acreage community (which the OP didn't request) but it's not a mature community nor anything like the requested Memorial area ( an urban-suburban area). A Mature community is a neighborhood over 20-80 years old with giant, old oak trees that line the street, along with dense, treed fencelines.

Not arguing but just saying, when answering an OP's question you have to be remotely in the ball park with the answer.
Point taken. I am new to the whole blogging thing. And my attention span isn't the best with my kids and all of there friends running around around the house. Thanks

Wilchester/Wilchester West is incredible. I'm working on my house nextdoor in Yorkshire. If you can afford south of Memorial in Wilchester, go for it. It's always been and always will be one of the nicer neighborhoods in Houston.

Closer in is Briargrove, where I am now. Same set up. The houses are little smaller and it's getting very congested around here. But like the Wilchester area, it always has been and always will be nice. I just like the larger lots now. I need more elbow room as I get older.
EA said it all...."It's always been and always will be one of the nicer neighborhoods in Houston". We lived in Nottingham a short time and moved to Wilchester and lived there for almost 10 years. The elementary school was a wonderful experience for my daughter. The school bus driver would drop my daughter right in front of our home rather than the corner. On holidays, i.e. 4th of July, we would hold a block party with everyone bringing their favorite beverage and gas grill to the end of their respective driveways. The only negative I saw was that it was ,and still is, zoned to Stratford High School. Everyone says that Memorial High School is better. But that was a few years back, so maybe it has changed. I would move back to Wilchester in a heart beat! (just can't afford it today)!

They are about equal today, with Stratford having the better social reputation.

Default moving to pearland

Make sure you visit a few more developments if you're planning on building new. Just when I think we've found a good builder..... a search online or with the BBB and everything is not what it seems with the builder's rep. I visited Southern Trails in Pearland, loved TrendMaker Homes and their search came up pretty solid. there are other builders in that development but reps weren't too good. Maybe you'll feel different. In any event ask lots of questions about whether they are registered with the BBB, any current complaints on file with the Attorney General (pub record) etc.....
