Where I'm from in Philly huge seasonal kids consignment sales were very popular, usually put on by various mom's groups at local fire halls or churches. Most had one in the spring and one in the fall, an awesome way to clean out your kids closets, make some cash, and find a whole wardrobe for dirt cheap for your rapidly growing kids. I have searched high and low on the internet and can find nothing of the sort in the Houston area. Especially in Katy where I live with so many families I am surprised. Anyone know of any of these kind of seasonal sales, especially in W. Houston or Katy? Heck I'd even go to Sugarland for a good one.

The only one I've heard of locally is the semi-annual Mothers of Multiples or Parents of Multiples "Buy and Sell" events. Those are supposed to be great places to find some deals but I think the members get first pick.

The Katy Parents of Multiples site is here.

There are other chapters in the Houston metro area, too: Fort Bend (Sugar Land and surrounding cities), Bellaire, Bay Area, etc.

Oh heck yes! The biggest one is called "Just Between Friends". There are two in Houston in the fall--one up near Champions Forest and the other is close to the Med Center, I think. There are a LOT of these sales everywhere--I would call churches in your area or check on their websites to find out if they are having any.

There's a great children's consignment store in the Heights area. http://www.youngandrestless.net/ If you join the email list, you'll get notified of sales and receive discount coupons occasionally.

Yeah, whatever! I've bought and sold at many many resale shops AND those huge sales...I'll take the big sales any day...especially for buying. And the ones I have sold at, pay immediately...sometimes the day the sale ends if they are really well organized.

sbhubbel: I LOVE resales! We call them clothing exchanges or clothing resales in Chicago. Every suburb has several held at schools or church basements every fall and every spring. That is where I always buy the Halloween costumes for $2. (in addition to my kids' wardrobes). A very green option. I love resales... hope to find some here as well! I have several boxes of clothes to sell and I usually make a couple hundred bucks- just about what I spend every sale! Also- if you volunteer to work at them you get to pre-shop- that is THE BEST.

Does anyone know any in Sugar Land???

I just wanted to update this thread--I got a big ol' postcard in the mail for a huge resale show at the Houston Farm & Ranch Club on Friday 7/31 and Saturday 8/1. The site is Childrens' Resale Houston . If I find out when the next Just Between Friends sale is, I will post it.

I got the card for the Houston Farm and Ranch Club sale and I'm registered as a consigner now. I have a HUGE stack of stuff ready to go already. Whatever doesn't sell there, I will bring to Crayons Resale shop...I like them a lot but they are super picky about what they take. I'm alerting my club, Moxie Moms of Katy, about the Houston Farm and Ranch Club event so hopefully they'll get more consignors and shoppers that way...we have 500 members and are in desparate need of events like this on the West side of town.

I went to the last Just Between Friends sale down on Buffalo Speedway and I admit I was a tad disappointed in the size of it...but I still did well buying bathing suits for my boys.

I will also pass on the word about KidsmartHouston...if I have stuff left maybe I'll consign there too. I LOVE resales!

ChicagoMama, I agree I usually spend about as much as I make, and I love getting my Halloween and Christmas outfits there...I guess Houston is a little slow to catching onto this trend...in the Philly suburbs we had many to choose from, almost every weekend in the fall and spring!

That means not faded or stained , and ironed.
*sigh* I've been doing this for years, I know how it works. I don't OWN circo, cherokee and the like. My clothes are always pristine. I didn't ask about resale shops, I know where and how to find those.
