It's 5% Ike damage, 95% just really really old roof. I gotta get it replaced.

Any positive experiences with roofing contractors? I'm in the West Hou area... though I'm not sure if it matters.

Thanks...

Try Ideal Roofing. They did a fantastic job on my mom's house...not a shingle moved during the storm.

Brinkman has a very good rep. and responded to us very quickly with our Ike damage. Although, they may just do tile roofs...I'm not certain.

We are using M&M to replace our roof. They are scheduled to do the work tomorrow, so I will happily post back my experiences. Brinkmann is also good (one of the larger in the city), but I couldn't get them or Braun's to even return my call.

I second Ideal Roofing. Did a fantastic job on the parent's house and use good quality shingles that they actually nail down properly. No shortcuts or staples for them. Also used good decking as well w/ radiant barrier.

No specific suggestions, but I would avoid non local contractors that have all flocked to the area for Ike work. Many of them offer bargain basement prices, do a crummy job, then when you need them to fix something, they have disappeared.

Stick with someone local.

Abouting sticking to someone local. I am about to use a contractor to replace my roof that is based in Austin,Texas. But they also have offices in Dallas and Houston. They are licensed certified and listed with the BBB. I will report back later to let everyone know how the job was done.

Im sure all the refferences above are great.

If you want to trust your govt who screened a list of city approved roofing contractors this site might put you more at ease.

City of Houston eGovernment Center

Just go down and click on where it says: "Roof repair contractor list".

Not much to trust all they did was check if these folks had insurance. Doesn't speak to the quality of their work or weather or not the are fly-by-night. I'd stick with known names who have been operating in Houston for years.
