Why do the sales associates at the high end stores act like they own the store??? They usually work off commision but only want to help when your ready to purchase.

Hey - you should visit London! I shopped in the Galleria on a recent trip to Houston, and had a wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble for the assistants. Here in London, they are arrogance incarnate. A recent one in Bond Street - (raising eyebrows, sniffing, sidelong laugh to her friend) - 'Oooh nowe, we DEFFEAU do not have this in YOUR size!' I am a UK 14(US 10).

Yeah! lol

I get to the cashier and they always asked "who helped you today?" and I'm like nobody. When you do ask for help, they get a attitude as if your wasting their time, that is just why I pretty much avoid that mall. When I do go I only shop at Champs, and a few other stores.

I've only had one experience like that with a clerk. I was at a modern furniture/accessory store over on Sunset near the village. I was not dressed up at all that day and was buying a gift and when I wagged up to the counter with my purchase the clerk looked at me with utter surprise, "This is really nice, did you pick this out all by yourself?

Um...yes...

She even had the follow up question, "nobody sent you down here to pick it up?" Like she just couldn't get her mind around the fact that I could pick out a nice bowl by myself, being such an obvious cultural savage and all.

If you have an issue with an assistant who is giving you grief ask to speak to the mechanic, not the oily rag.

That said, I find them all charming- must be my personality.

I do agree when I'm dressed up I receive better service......but it's had for someone wearing a $100 suit, if that, to judge who has money if the cheapest thing in there store is a key chain ($300) which cost more than there outfit put together. I tend to shop on my off days which mean something comfortable. I am in no way trying to impress/convince the $10hr sales person. Gucci/Dior has the best service. I tend to shop on-line I go to the store and get a feel for the look and size of things and then I go to the no judge zone and order it on-line.

Some people dressed up have money and some are posers who have ridiculous amounts of credit card debt and can barely afford the gas to get to the mall. When you are nice to everyone you would be surprised that the person you would least likely expect to have money has the most.

They barely get $8 and hour working at Gucci/Foot Locker and have a tude like they own the gallo, then they look at you like what are you doing here in this store (I laugh in there face) , and finally its retail you shouldn't even worry about it they only get 30% discount which is tax and ten dollars. Shop online less hassle.
