Just curious if anyone might know the population and the entire circumfrence of Loop 610 in Houston? I believe that inner city Houston (inside the loop) is the densest area in Houston and probably all of Texas.

Just inetrested in hearing some figures?

I saw a map of this once down in General U.S., but I don't recall. There was a zip code here, one in Dallas, and then one in Austin (UT) that were the densest in Texas. I don't recall the zip codes or the numbers, sorry.

Smile I have a preety good guess

The area is about 100 sq miles and the population is about 850,000.
The density then would be about 8500 per square mile. Remember though that most of the people in the loop are on the west side and southwest side. if you split it in half at the 45 there would still be like 675,000 people and the area would go down to 60 square mile and about 11,000 per square mile. The highest density is around the galleria which is more like 15-18,000 per square mile.

Still seems inside the loop between 610 and downtown is a bit more dense than Uptown.

Uptown Dallas would give it a run for its money.

Maybe in building proximity but i highly doubt it would population wise.

West Campus in Austin seems pretty dense. Midtown in Houston seems like the most dense area in Houston but I don't think it's as dense as West Campus. There are just so many apartment buildings clumped together in West Campus.

I saw this post and knew I had seen something about this recently. Went back and dug it up from my blog feeds: according to Andrew Burleson at neohouston.com, the density inside the loop is about 6500/mi^2.

The article: New Mobility Northwest | neoHOUSTON

And some explanation of how he arrived at the number (calculating pop by zip code from census data, scroll down to near the bottom of the page):
The problem with the Grand Parkway... - Houston Architecture Info Forum

This is the closest number supported by some kind of research that I could find.

Yeah it's more like 500-600K, depending on how you add the zip code pops in the loop.
