Dear Members,

I will be driving down from Dallas to visit Houston for the first time on this week end June 6th to 8th with my wife and 4 yr old kid and would need some kid friendly places of attraction.

I looked at the weather and it is really in 90's during the entire weekend and I know this is really bad time for outdoor visit. I did some research and most of the places are outdoor kind of type and I do not want to stay outside in that hot temperature.

Hence greatly appreciate if you people can suggest me some kid friendly places ( preferably indoors ) to visit and some reasonably priced hotels to stay.

Thanks

I would recommend the Houston Zoo. Although it is outside there is a lot of shade from very large trees throughout the Zoo. I would also recommend a trip to the Children's Museum. If you are needing exact locations and driving directions I would look on their websites.

The weather is in the 90s but the humidity is low. It won't kill you.

If you go out before noon it shouldn't be too bad. But after that I would stay indoors. It may not kill you but it will be uncomfortable.

Ok, Zoo first thing in the morning.
Then buzz over to the Children's Museum.
When the day winds down, go on into Downtown and go to the Aquarium and Boardwalk for an early dinner.

But take a change of clothes for your four year old because he/she will need a dry outfit after playing in the new splash area at the Children's Museum (you can imagine how I learned this!).

My young children love the Houston Museum of Natural Science, especially the Cockrell Butterfly Center. If your child watches the TV show, "Go, Diego, Go!" and knows about Blue Morpho Butterflies, it is fun to see real Blue Morpho Butterflies at the Center. They are gorgeous up close.

Kids like the Museum of Natural History also. It has a butterfly exhibit and IMAX movies. It is next to the zoo and Childrens Museum which is not to be missed!

The upgraded miniature train that runs around Hermann Park (the kiddie one, not the regular one LOL) is not to be missed!! A great way to end your trip to the museum district. Hermann Park Conservancy (http://www.hermannpark.org/railroad-and-pedal-boats.html - broken link)
