Has anyone noticed how depressing and dull Houston looks on google streetview? Lots of the shots are dark and makes it hard to see anything.

What I've noticed is most of the shots were taken during the winter months, and lots of them were early in the morning--or at least, on the west side of town.

It's a nice updated shot on main street in downtown, but the rest are blurry and dull.

They should pay me to walk the streets and take pictures.

To be fair, everywhere looks like that pretty much in Google street view.

Yes, it was bad timing for photos of my side of town. Dead of winter so all grass is brown. Trees are dormant. The morning sun blasting on half the houses. Not flattering at all. Can they do a retake or something? :-) It must have been an unusually cold day because nobody is outside.

It appears my part of Clear Lake was done in late fall, perhaps around Thanksgiving '07 on a sunny day at high noon. Grass isn't so brown but trees are looking pretty dormant. It also looks like I have a rake on the driveway and a pile of leaves in the front yard waiting to be bagged. However I am nowhere to be found. Looks like whoever did this waited to take a picture until I went back into the garage to fetch a plastic bag.

You got lots of areas in Dallas in HD, as well much more better shots in other cities. Houston is just dull, but we were one of the first cities to be done.

Maybe that's the problem. They didn't bother with taking good images when it was new.

It's usually the reverse in Houston. Brown grass is more widespread in Dallas. My grass was brown a few weeks ago due to the heat.

Winter is my favorite season in Houston. Houston winter days are very sunny with clear sky and cool. It's refreshing after a burning hot and humid summer.

I think Google likes to take pictures of Houston in winter because less people are off the street thus minimizing privacy concerns. Canada won't allow Streetview because of that very issue.

Actually I heard Streetview is coming soon for Canada, including all of its major cities.
