So at some point in the future I'm moving to Houston from Chicago. I'm basically coming down next weekend, 24-28th to scope out potential areas to live in the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods area.

Now if I wanted to drive around and get a feel of say Midtown/Montrose/Rice Village or other neighborhoods, what main streets would you recommend traveling in said neighborhoods?

I also plan on doing some apartment research and looking at a few in the various neighborhoods, but since I really have no definite date as to when I'm moving (at least 5 months away), hardcore apartment looking isn't really on my radar. Just mainly looking at various neighborhoods to get a feel of where I'd like to live.
