...I don't understand why this guy doesn't get more pub

Long-shot candidate Morales ‘having fun,' making points | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

He seems to be a lot better than the other weak candidates IMHO

ROY MORALES
• Age: 52
• Occupation: self-employed security and business consultant
• Campaign Web site: Roy Morales For Mayor of Houston (http://roymorales.com/ - broken link)
ON THE ISSUES
• City finances: Reduce government, cut pay of mayor and senior executives, conduct efficency audits of all departments, offer property tax relief to homeowners and businesses.
• Crime: Increase neighborhood policing, including storefronts, crack down on the petty crimes, and team up with local, state and federal law enforcement to go after gangs and drug lords.
• Immigration: Supports screening inmates for immigration status and wants to allow detectives access to immigration databases.
• Transportation: Scrap Metro's light rail plans and build an elevated monorail; make Metro's board an elected body.

I have always liked the Monorail idea, since the sample one they built on OST, back in the 50s.

Maybe cause he is fairly new and a little too conservative.

^ Yup, especially for one that is in the process of revamping its image.

He makes the most sense and has a lot of great ideas. I really, really hope he wins and follows through with them.

Some may find it hard to believe, but I have found that campaign promises, often don't add up to much, once the person is elected. I could be mistaken of course.

I was most impressed with Annise Parker. I'm a republican though.

She seemed to be the most confident candidate. The others seemed so nervous.

Why scrap the light rail when we are finally building it! Yes, add to it with monorail to the burbs. But plaese dont scrap it. We have spent billions getting this project underway and to scrap it now is pointless. If this happens you can count on never getting any system.
I dont know enough about the candidates yet but I am liking Peter Brown so far.
What info do ya'll have on him?

Wonder what the cost comparison are, per mile, for "Mono rail" compared to "street level trains"
