Hey There.
Im going to be relocating to Houston soon and im going to need a cheep Hotel or motel that rents by the week. I need something that's within the inner loop and i don't want to pay more than 150.00 a week. I know for that price the room's probably not going to be all that great and it might be in a area thats not too good, so im aware of that.
Can anyone at least direct me to some areas and maybe even name a few Hotels/Motels? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I don't feel comfortable renting a space in someone's personal house that's why im looking for a Hotel/Motel.thanks

I'm travelling to Houston on holiday in April and this was pretty useful. A variety of hotel/motels and reasonably priced

I think that the cheapest solution would be to check local ads and craigslist and take over someones apartment lease.
Here are some pretty good deals: houston sublets & temporary classifieds - craigslist
Good luck!!

I almost forgot to tell you. There is Houston International Hostel in Midtown. It's a hostel, though.

Houston International Hostel - The Small Hostel in the Big State.

I've come across many European backpackers/travelers from the Greyhound or Amtrak making their way to the place and pointed them in the right direction. I'm sure it's less than 150 a week to stay there. Reviews of the place are extremely poor.

This motel is not inside the loop, but offers rooms for up to four weeks at time and costs around $31 a night for a queen bed. The one I looked at just now is in Stafford, Texas which is on I-59 heading towards Sugarland. It isn't so far from the loop.

Studio 6 - Locations

I am not sure about the hostel mentioned by Alphalogica, but it looks pretty scary in the photos. And this link bears my impression out: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ton_Texas.html

Extended stay has lots of places in Houston, but the ones close in are much more expensive. Take a look: http://www.extendedstayhotels.com/booking/

Good Luck

$31/night is way over $200/week ( remember all the taxes and surcharges). I still think that you can find much better deal on the craigslist.
Something like that: PRIVATE 1 BEDROOM, HUGE; THE BEST AREA! (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1646682748.html - broken link)
1/1 Summer sublet in Museum District (inc. all utilities but electric) (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1646108706.html - broken link)
1BR/1BA Apt. Avail. Mid May-End of Sep. Cash Paid (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1645741259.html - broken link)
2 story townhome appartment for lease (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1645608348.html - broken link)
1 bedroom/1 bath all bills paid nice neighborhood (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1644641719.html - broken link)

Yes, you are right. I didn't do the math. I like this one: 1/1 Summer sublet in Museum District (inc. all utilities but electric) (http://houston.craigslist.org/sub/1646108706.html - broken link)

I wouldn't mind living there myself!

Would y'all answer this guy's question directly, instead of steering him away from his decision? Back in '08, it was faced with a similar dilemma and found that Houston has quite the stock of these places, such as...

On I-45 just a little north and a little south of I-610 (North Fwy/North Loop Junction), there's quite a few motels/hotels that offer weekly rates that are under $150 a week (as of late '08, this may I have changed, though I doubt it).

On Airline Dr. inbetween W. Cavalcade and the Loop, there's a couple more within that price range.

Also, if you want something with a little more quality and more amenities without paying a ridiculous amount more than what you're budgeting for (value, not no f'ing Marriott -- I can't believe someone actually provided a Marriott link, are you serious?), then I recommend something like Value Place or Inn Town Suites. You get a lot for your money with these places. It's almost like living in a studio apartment.

Also another benefit of extended stay living in Texas is if you stay in these type of places beyond 30 days, they refund your taxes that you've paid previously and every time thereafter you don't have to pay taxes on the rate. Louisiana needs to get on that level.
