Hope I don't jinx myself, but I may get a job in the vicinity of 290 and Gessner. I'm looking at the easiest commute and a safe complex/area...price range $700-800, have 2 cats, want w/d in apt and covered parking. My son lives in the Galleria area now, and has suggested the Heights for me. I would prefer to be as close as possible...but don't know much about the northwest area of Houston.

Well there are some decent apts. near 290/BW8/Gessner - in the Jersey Village area that would be close for you. Don't know the price. One of my co-workers lived in some in that area for a few years and seemed quite happy while she was there.

I live in Bristol Place. 290/West/Jones area. Great place so far. Management is pure class and the gates usually work... I have W/D... oh and some apts. have a covered garage. Frickin' win.

I've got a Kroger and a Wells Fargo right next to the complex.

Heights is uh, not that good. Did HPD catch the arsonist yet??

I lived off Phillipine St (Woodwind Lakes) for a while and then I lived on Hollister (Thornbury). Both were OK places. I ended up buying a house, and would never live in an apt. But if you have to, these two were fine. The management of the Woodwind Lakes seemed a little better. We had issues with some neighbors at Thornbury that were never resolved.
