Hi!

Is there a website, other than HAR.com, that people would recommend when looking to rent a single-family home in Houston?

I'm moving to Houston from out-of-state on July 1st. So far, my experience dealing with HAR.com is that the properties are either already rented (but the posting has not been removed or otherwise indicates its 'rented' status), or the property managers/realtors are unresponsive to inquiries.

I'm hitting the road in 24 days and don't have a home secured yet. Eeeek!

Thanks!

the site you linked is pretty much just funneling listings from HAR.

If you're looking in town, I've heard good things about these guys:

In the Loop Properties

Avoid Delilah McKenna at all costs. She is terrible to work with.

Yeah, except they are from 2 weeks to 2 months behind HAR.

I like that said it loads faster & shows 300 listings in a search unlike HAR only shows 100

To fill anyone in on what I am looking for, in case you know of such a place.

Musts:

- Budget: $1,100/month
- Convenient and safe neighborhood. Close to downtown. So far, I have focused my search in Oak Forest. But am open to other neighborhood suggestions.
- Must be pet friendly and have a completely fenced-in yard.
- Central a/c
- Appliances should be included (stove, fridge, and dishwasher; W/D hook up at a minimum)

Wants:

- Hardwood/tile floors
- Carport or garage

Thanks!

We've used HAR to find all our single-family home rentals (The Woodlands, Quail Valley & now, Sienna Plantation).

We're moving at the end of the month & will be renting a house in Sienna that had been on the market for about 5 months with no serious buyers. The house was never listed as a rental but when we called the realtor, she seemed interested in the idea & said she would run it by the owners. We were able to sew everything up within 2 weeks (signed lease today). About 3 weeks before we decided to call this realtor, we actually had had a similar discussion on another house for sale/not for rent but we weren't able to come to terms on lease length.

I don't know if HAR shows how long a house has been on the market; I know Zillow does but I've found the info there to be out-of-date or just plain wrong.

Just thought I'd throw this out there in case you want to explore this option. Good luck...I hope you find something soon!

Hmm! I had never even thought of this as an option. Thanks, Sampaguita, for the suggestion!
