Medical is already a huge sector.

I have no clue, I would say IT. I have seen some articles about the IT growing there, let me see if I can dig that article up from 2 weeks ago.

When people think of Houston, they think of oil. What I'm trying to ask, what sector would dominate oil?

Many Oil companies also have Tech scenes too. My mom is in IT and she is a consultant, and she's had projects in Shell Oil before.

I think the only other industry that can overtake Oil/energy is Medical. But I'm glad the economy is diversifying with IT and other markets. It's a good approach.

I think oil and gas is transitioning into the larger energy industry and Houston is moving along with it. Nothing's going to overtake that, but if you've got your hand in both oil and what might eventually replace it, we're in good shape. There will never cease to be a market for energy, unless we decide we don't like lights in our house and we want to revert to a hunter-gatherer society. In which case we wouldn't need cities at all.
