"This is something that the whole community could benefit from," he said. "It could be many things. It could be a point of interest for people to come to Huntington and it could help us do population health management. It will have a lot of hands-on experiences for the kids."
...
He likened the idea to COSI, a science and industrial museum in Columbus, Ohio.
"We won't have a COSI right away, but I think it's good to shoot for that," he said. "We can start it and the next generations can make it better and better and make it a COSI."
...
"This will make Huntington even better than what it is," he said. "It will be a great point of interest and unite our medical community. I think the most important thing is it will make a huge difference in our patients' lives."
With the leadership and financial backing of Dr. Oliashirazi, this could turn out to be something very nice. I really like his enthusiasm for this and the goal of making it like a COSI. The building on the corner of 3rd Ave and 8th street where Bazaar used to be would be a good starting place for this. Lots of room on the ground floor and then they could expand to the lower level and then possibly up some too. The building next to the MU Hall of Fame Cafe might be worth looking into as well. More things going on downtown, I love it!

I agree, it's good to see Huntington's urban core becoming more dense. Hopefully soon someone will realize the need for a nice, full-service hotel downtown, something to replace the Pullman Plaza. The PP, (formerly Raddison) has served it's purpose, but is outdated. If someone would put $15-20M into the PP, it could be a nice place again.
Now, back to the topic. I am not familiar with children's medical museums, only science museums. Are there any in the region we could compare this project to?
A quick search didn't bring up any local medical museums focused on kids. Dr. Touma does have a medical museum downtown but it is solely focused on history and is not interactive. There's a pretty neat looking museum in Texas that would be neat to model this on.
About the hotel, I keep hearing people talk about the need for a larger conference center downtown. It keeps being thrown around with redevelopment of the ACF site as well. Hopefully this will happen in the next few years.
