The nerve of the developer to ask for a tax incentive to bring an "upscale" department store to our area... yet use our hard paying tax money to foot the bill to fill back up the "leaking lake."
We just drove by and saw the lake being filled from the Fire Hydrant.
According to the BSTC website the lake is 18,200,000 gallons.
According to this website, the cost for 1,000 gales of water is $1.50
Cost of Water
That means we are footing the bill for $27,300!!!

Wow...wonders never cease to amaze me. I feel sorry for the nice gentleman that owns the Gondolas and peddle boats. His Gondola made it through Hurricane Ivan and Katrina and now can't survive a man made lake
I can't imagine what this has done to his livelihood.

They may have placed a meter on the fire hydrant in order to bill the developer. It can and has been done in other cities I've been in. Maybe this would be a good lead for a local news station to follow up on?

No it isnt
BSTC has their own water supply from the TVA. No water is HSV Utilities. They pay for every bit of all the water on site, including out of the fire hydrants. Don't jump to conclusions.

And why all the resentment towards BSTC? No matter what they do it seems someone is throwing a temper tantrum. Some things they do are stupid, but don't assume everything they do is.

I don't see one in the picture, but could there be one not in view, that blue piece of the piping directly connected to the hydrant?
I like the high tech support structure for the blue segment connected to the PVC.
Still, I'm glad to see the lake is being filled. I wonder how long it takes.
