Is All Hallows' Eve going to happen on All Hallows' Eve, or Sunday evening? I haven't seen anything yet advising parents of a holiday schedule change (grumble), but I figure this is the place to inquire.

Thanks, much.
Trish

Always on Oct 31st. Apparently one year (not last year) when it fell on a Sunday the city tried to change it and about half the city ignored it and people had kids at their door 2 nights, so now they just leave it on the 31st.

That's why I was asking...I know of at least one parent who's sending her kids out Sunday, and I was unsure of when to tell daughter she'd be. I don't get any Trick-or-Treaters on my street, but the 'younger' neighborhood further down should have some activity.

As others have said, its always October 31. The year it fell on Sunday, some of the bible thumpers were in an uproar and attempted to get it changed to Saturday but it failed miserably and basically just caused confusion. Most people still went on Sunday October 31 and ignored the requests to do it on Saturday.

If anyone shows up at my door on the wrong day, all they are going to get is an explanation of what day is actually halloween.

Last year we had kids showing up from Friday night-Sunday. It was a nightmare! I went through 14 BIG bags of candy(we had to restock as we only started with 10) and we were still out by 8:30/9...it was time to shut off the light!

My kids will be going trick-or-treating on Halloween, there are so many things to do Friday-Sunday that there is no reason to add confusion to the situation!

We always hand out between 8 and 15 big bags of candy. They bus them into the neighborhood.
Yeah, we have teenagers holding out the bottom of their sweatshirt...16-year-olds with just-born babies in their arms...

As a general rule the younger children start showing up after 5:30pm. These are accompanied by adults normally. Bigger kids start showing up around 6:00pm and go until around 8:30pm. My rule is I give out treats until 8:30pm or until it runs out.
