I want to buy tickets to the George Jones concert in April for my husband. I have never been in the Mark C. Smith concert hall, so I don't know the best seats. I looked at the seating on line, so I have a general idea.....but I was hoping to get info from someone who has actually been there. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated! (My husband is a HUGE fan, so I want to find the best possible seating for him.)

Of course, it may general admission, but I don't know. If it is, do people normally get there way ahead of time and wait? As you can tell, I haven't been to many concerts!

Help?

This is at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, right?
Almost all the floor seats are good. Great acoustics. I don't like sitting in the upper balcony - the steps are steep and I have a really hard time getting up there. Lower balcony is not too bad.

Thank you! I am having difficulty with ticket master - the seats I found are in the lower balcony - but there is a disclaimer that there may be an obstruction. I looked at the seating, and I don't see it. Facing the stage way over to the left - but not the first few seats that are the "leftest". Oh well, we shall see. Thanks for your imput - I really appreciate it.

I don't know where there would be an obstruction in the lower seats. I've sat a lot of different spots, it is wide open. I think you'll be fine.

My advice is to go in person to the Von Braun Center Box Office. It is open 10-5 Monday through Friday, and there is free short-term parking right in front of the concert hall. It's usually pretty slow during the day, and whoever is there will be happy to advise you on your ticket purchase and show you the seating layout.

I've been there probably a dozen times and I think I agree that if you avoid the upper balcony, you're probably good. (Lower balcony is fine.) It is more satisfying I think to pick your exact seats though.

Regarding the lower balcony "obstruction". The lower balcony has a railing on the front row, but it's pretty low. Very short people and children have to sit up straight to avoid the obstruction, but for average-tall adults it's not a problem. I rather like it because there are no heads in front of me! I'm 5'4" and I have to sit up a bit straight - doesn't bother me a bit. My friend I think is 5'3" and she prefers second row of the lower balcony because of it.

Also if I recall, TicketMaster warns you of this "obstruction" if it is offering you seats ANYWHERE in the lower balcony - not just the first row.

FWIW if your husband is tall (6'2" +) he will be very uncomfortable in the upper balcony. The seats are tiny.

15 mins early fine. Earlier if you want - they usually have beer and wine available and they usually allow you to drink it in your seats while waiting for the show. If you have been to venues in bigger cities, you'll find the VBC to be a treat. $5 parking and getting in and out is easy-peasy.
