I'm not a Huntsville native (moved here in 2001) but I really enjoy finding little out of the way or hole in the wall places to eat with my wife. I've ran across a few gems such as Big Spring Cafe and a little place tucked back off 565 in Mooresville but I'd like to find some more.

What's your favorite place that's out of the way? Doesn't even have to be limited to Madison County as we travel quite a bit. Cuisine is open as we like to try anything.

I'm from Monroe County, so I grew up close to fresh seafood and country cooking and love it, but I've ventured into sushi and the likes since moving here and it has been quite enjoyable as well.

I don't eat there often, but my favorite dive is Dairy D'Lite in Park City.

I'd recommend taking a look at yelp.com, and not just for local stuff. Any time I go to another city, it's a culinary adventure.

(Like last week, Maniac's near Cool Springs in Franklin, TN. Highly recommend. Which reminds me, I have freshly made real ranch dressing at home right now (because I got some there and forgot how good real Ranch is))

I've driven past that place a hundred times and I always thought it was a comic book store?!?!?!? I found their menu online and it looks awesome! I will be stopping by soon.

Also, I'll post a hole in the wall: the El Cazador taco trucks; one on Governors and one on Drake. The food is cheap and terrific!

El Cazador also has a sit down restaurant. It's on South Parkway, between Weatherly and Meadowbrook.

I think this location has a more extensive menu than the trucks. Very, very good food!
