I need to have my cat checked out but don't have a vet in Huntsville. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive vet to go to in this area?

Not wanting to come across as sarcastic but...good luck. I haven't met an inexpensive vet yet.

Little place called Center Star between here and Florence has a cheap vet. Just for future reference, if you need them! I just don't want to have to drive that far just for a vet visit.

Low cost spay & nuter service is available here in Huntsville, but low cost general vet services are just not out there.

Bansfield at Petsmart are not terribly priced. I especially like that, on Thursdays, you can get a free check-up with vaccination. So that is what I do with my big cat for his yearly check-up.

With that said, I just got a kitten and went to Catisfaction (cat-only clinic) on Madison blvd west of Wall Triana in Madison, because I was being a snob... Their prices are on the high side of average, and I thought the medicine I bought there were quite expensive for what they were. Next time I'll ask for prescriptions and buy the meds online or from the well advertised 1-800 number. BTW Catisfaction was neat and I learned that they make house calls.

I'll tell ya too... I'd be inclined today to ask for a general price list before doing anything. I recently switched vets because every time I took my dog in for repeat procedures I was charged a different rate. Then I pulled all past bills and realized that every time my husband brought one of the dogs in the charge was higher, and he was also charged more than I was for a supplement that the dog takes regularly when he picked it up. Needless to say, I had a meltdown, conniption fit in the office and that's the last time they saw me or any of my dogs.

What is cheap? My vet never charges me for an office visit when I take them in for their shots. Depending on the issue I might get a $25 office visit fee. They don't push anything on you which I like during yearly checkups. With 6 dogs I am happy with what they charge me. Normally I pay around$45.00 for shots and I believe worming.

In FL.. I never walked out of the vet office for less than $100.00 for shots and all kind of blood work.

We used Family Pet Care on East Limestone Road, Toney when we lived in AL. Great care, reasonable prices and the only one we could find to bath our cat without sedation.

Also not wanting to be sarcastic, OP, but you get what you pay for.
