I guess they opened Wednesday. They must have heard people like me who said this former Star Market building would be ideal for a Neighborhood Walmart. As with every new business, I wait until the crowds thin out, so I'll wait to try it in the coming weeks. If anyone has been there yet, I'd love to know how the selection is, particularly meat and produce.

Publix down the street has what you are looking for. Maybe the employees at the two they closed in New Hope and Gurley can get a job there

Oh great, so you've been there? What day/time did you go? Was it crowded?

I frequent that Publix. Just hoping for more (less expensive) options.

Publix has the best meat and a lot of good deals with BOGO. Went to the new WalMart on opening day, was not to crowded. Sure beats going to the superstore on South Parkway. Will shop there mostly plus they have cheap gas.

Ditto what unlblkrubi said about Publix. And, if you coupon and stack coupons with sales you can actually get some of the best deals from Publix. Not to mention the people are usually nicer. But, there are some things that are better off gotten at Walmart (for me, mostly canned & prepackaged items that both carry).
And, there's a woman (I presume) with a website I've frequented for many yrs I Heart Publix - Publix Weekly Ad | BOGO deals | Coupons | and she keeps up with all the sales and the coupons that are available with the sales so that you don't have to. Very helpful.

For inexpensive and good staples, like fruits, milk, cheese, yogurt, cereal...etc -- just go to ALDI. Best you can get as far as value for quality. Just use it for the things they have, and fill in at others for the rest!

I love our WalMart Market in Decatur. You don't have to cross a football field to get milk and shampoo. The place is cleaner than the big one. I can usually check out quickly - big WalMart typically has 2 cashiers on duty. You can stand in line 20 to 30 minutes there.
It's a lot closer to me.
When it opened, it had a slightly abbreviated version of the grocery stock. Now they've expanded it, which is fine, but they've done it by adding a couple of shelves. There are lots of things I cannot reach anymore.
