I went this morning around 8:30 at Madison City Hall. The parking lot was completely full and lots of people were going in & out, but I didn't have to stand in line to get my ballot. It all went very smoothly. From time I got out of my car and back to my car was 15 minutes at most.

Just wondering what it's like across HSV, Madison, Athens, etc. What have you seen?

Drove by First Baptist HSV a little bit ago, which is a polling station, and it was pretty crowded for the time of day (just after lunch). The Lutheran church on County Line mid morning was busier than usual. I had to wait a little bit but not bad, but definitely more people than typical for a primary (we vote at Madison Baptist off Balch).

When my ballot went through the reader, I believe it counted me as #189. I assume that meant I was the 189th person to vote there today? If so, that was a lot for 8:30 AM.

I'm way in the boonies and the place where I go had more people than I'd ever seen there at one time.

My polling place went smoothly. I usually vote at about the same time to judge the turnout and it seemed low. The GOP turnout seemed to be 4X the Dem turnout.

The church parking lot in Cashpoint, TN was completely full at 10 AM this morning where we vote. About 40-45 people inside voting. Unlike Madison, AL, they use voting machines in TN, of which there were a grand total of three machines in the church. Each voter has to be "trained" on its use beforehand and each voter then takes about 5 minutes each. Yea, do the math: about 35-40 minutes standing in line waiting to vote.

Quite a bit difference than Madison where I voted for the last previous (to 2013) 23 years: you walk in, check in then get your voting ballot. Go to a voting station (of which there are dozens) then take your ballet to the shredding machine (just kidding). 5 minutes tops, maybe; and most of that just in the check in process.

Oh well, one of the [very] few downsides to living in heaven.
