My husbands new job is in Madison and we have been looking for rental homes for weeks. He makes great money, but what we are running into
over and over again is that the people that has the homes expects you to
have perfect credit. We had a restaurant that failed and he had to file bankruptcy. If we had perfect credit we would just purchase one.
We have three children and are not lower class people.
My husband drives one hour to be at work by 5:00am and we are at our witts end.Does anyone have any advice or know someone who can help use find rental property?????
Sincerly Stephanie

You probably found a rental by now ...

But I would explain my situation... I talked to a realtor and they were very sympathetic to my less than perfect credit. I don't have any bankruptcy but was hit quite severely by the mortgage meltdown and medical bills...

Hi,
I have the same problem, me and my wife make a good living, but had some unfortunate situations which lead to our credit taking a major hit. We are looking to lease a 3 to 4 bedroom home for at least 2 years. If you or anyone else can provide us with any leads it would be greatly appreciated.

The Sunday paper is also a good place to look. There are quite a few rentals in there not found on valleymls.

I used ValleyMLS too.
There are plenty of rentals right now ---- compared to January when I was looking ... so you should be in a better spot compared to me.

They want renters ... lots of people lost their jobs --- or had to relocate ... so they are willing to be more accommodating.

You might want to ride through neighborhoods you are considering and look for signs. I was in the Blossomwood/5 points areas today and saw several houses with "for rent or for lease" signs in the yards. I don't know what type of home you are looking for, but I saw at least four houses that were probably 3 bedroom. Blossomwood is also an excellent school district.

As others have said valleyMLS is probably the best resource out there to find rentals. Another is craigslist but you really have to be careful and watch out for scams.

I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation but try to stay positive. There are a lot of property owners out there that are looking to rent to good people. In a lot of cases your job and income can play a larger factor than your credit. Next will be past rental history, they do not want to find that you have been recently evicted in the past, especially recently.

Hope this helps.
