I've got four daughters that were born in Huntsville and raised here in Madison.

The first two graduated from Bob Jones High School, the other two from James Clemens High School.

They're all in local colleges working towards PhD's.

Every month or so, they tell me of yet another high school acquaintance overdosing on Fentanyl laced drugs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentanyl

Sometimes they survive after police, rescue, or medical personnel administer life saving Narcan (Naloxone).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naloxone

Most of the time they die because it's too late.

I wonder how many people reading this post have family, friends, neighbors, friend of a friend, etc. that have overdosed? and are now dead?

Hardly nothing is ever said or published by anyone anywhere anytime.

Sometimes families are even too embarrassed to post their loved ones obituaries.

Hardly nothing about how ~100,000 of our children and grandchildren are needlessly dying each year.

But all I read about in the main stream media is how unvaccinated people are causing the spread of a pandemic created with funding by our tax dollars at a laboratory in WuHan.

Some countries are successfully treating this disease prophylactically with 'antiparasitic agents' created for human consumption, tested on humans, proven safe to consume (even in children), and even safe when used to protect humans during the early stages of infection - and cost less than $1 / dose (12mg dose for five days).

Americans prohibited from buying these simple and relatively safe treatments are unfortunately out of desperation resorting to using veterinary grade products for prophylactic protection and early exposure treatment.

All while Fentanyl laced heroin methamphetamine and cocaine sold illegally by local drug pushers can be bought by our kids for $5 / dose here in our own City of Madison Alabama 24/7/365.

Fentanyl is manufactured in China and smuggled through Mexico by illegals into the United States.

Search YouTube 'fentanyl' and 'fentanyl zombies' to see for yourself what's really happening on the streets of America.

China is doing to the USA what Britain and France did to China during the Opium Wars.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_Wars

What the British and French did to the Chinese in the mid 1800's, and what is happening today in America, is sickening.

Does this upset anyone as much as it does me, or will no one care until death comes knocking on their own door?

Yes, it's very upsetting. So far the fentanyl crisis hasn't touched me personally, but I have a couple of grandchildren who are coming of age, so to speak. They're good kids, raised well, so hopefully they'll stay away from any and all drugs. It doesn't take much fentanyl to be deadly. It's another was that China is sabotaging the US, and there seems to be very little recognition by our federal government, at least at the top, that it's a hugh problem.

Congrats to you, your wife and your 4 daughters. 4 PhD's is impressive. Looks like you raise them right. My son and daughter-in-law both hold PhD's but unfortunately they lean toward the left. The political center is fine for me - just stay away from the extreme left or the extreme right and a person will be fine. And respect other's non-radical political views.

The opiate crisis is real but the comments about and references to hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin reek of right-wing misinformation and tinfoil hat paranoia.

The drug problems and overdoses are a severe problem now. It is far more severe than most people realize and should be getting more attention than the constant banter about Covid 19. I don't know what the solution is because it is probably something that needs to be addressed when they are children and the way they are raised. Typically but not 100%, it is usually the ones with dysfunctional family lives and poor educational support that end up on these types of drugs. The drug problem in their late teens and early 20's is one of the reasons there is such a labor shortage in the entry level and manual labor job sector.

The efforts the government put into making it hard to purchase the ingredients to make meth were pretty much a waste because these type people just find whatever drug is easy to get. The OP is correct that a large percentage of illegal drugs are coming across the border from Mexico. Unfortunately, nothing is really being done so it is going to continue for the foreseeable future.

This happened to one of my husband's employees. He directs a medium sized IT group for a large corporation (just about 20 people in his particular expertise) so they're all close to each other, some socialize outside of work.

One employee was doing his work but started calling in sick on Mondays, enough where it became noticeable. He told my husband he was suffering from terrible migraines. Then the others noticed he always had sores on the backs of his hands - like a combo of mosquito bites. One day, he didn't show up & the police stopped by to question my husband & notify him that the man was in a coma, not expected to live. They needed the next of kin info.

Long story short, "Justin's" old pal from his wild days showed up in town about 6 weeks before and Justin couldn't resist the temptation. They started shooting up fentanyl and Justin had a massive heart attack at age 35, causing brain damage then death. The friend just watched him die & then called 911 many hours later. He still had a heart beat when they got there, but his brain was dead. The autopsy showed multiple injection scabs all in his toes, backs of knees, creases of arms, etc, all fairly recent.

The "friend" suffered no legal action for coercing a recovered addict of 15 years and providing this deadly drug or for not calling 911 as soon as it was obvious something was wrong. He said he didn't want to get into trouble. A little girl now has no father and no one has sympathy for an addicts death.
