Hi all,

I was hoping someone could point me out to a resource or club name where I can find non-gambling card game clubs in the area, whether it be Bridge, Cribbage, Rummy, non-stake Poker, or what have you. I'd also be interested in learning the game of Mah Jong. Yahoo Games is a great source but face to face is also most fun.

I've tried many searches of the Internet in the past and could never find anything!

There is a newcomer club in Huntsville that meets at the Hville City LIbrary the first tuesday of every month. They have tables set up where you can go and find a group you're interested in joining. Some of the groups mentioned to me were: gourmet supper clubs, book clubs, walking clubs, etc. Any rate, why don't you try there? You'll meet people who want to connect (some have done it for 5 yrs so aren't really new). I bet they have a card club/something like what you want at that meeting.

AFter the meeting in the AM, there is a lunch social time as well.

I'd ping the Hville City Library and ask them about it.

Good luck.

Check the local senior center(s). You can usually find them by calling the county Agency on Aging. I know our centers in Decatur host quite lively bridge, canasta and mah jongg groups. Sometimes you'll find a church that hosts groups - check Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal but probably not Baptist! churches. And of course, keep asking among acquaintances. They could add you to their list as a sub and you could sort of get a foot in the door that way.
Good luck!
