I thought for certain that after viewing this, we'd have something spectacular to write about tomorrow...but instead all we get is the chuckle of New Orleans covered in white.

Soooooooooo close....

Be careful what you wish for. When we got 2 feet in Birmingham in 1993 (Measured it myself with a yardstick), our temporary thrill was soon dispelled by the fact that there's not a snowplow to be found in Alabama. So you have to simply sit it out and wait.

Well, that's Huntsville these days. You're gonna have to get used to it. The last big storm we got was in 1996 w/ 6" of snow. Huntsville schools were out for a week, and I remember reading -6 degrees F on the thermometer one of those days. So that means there are probably some teenagers in this city who have never seen a real snowstorm. Since then, there have been big storms all around us, even one that got as close as Decatur, but they always seem to dissipate right before it hits Huntsville, and reappear on the other side of the metro area. It's like there's some kind of curse over the city...

That's alright...coming from S. FL I have this left-over habit of being pre-stocked with canned/dry goods, flashlights, a box full of batteries and a functional Coleman stove. Traded in the blue tarps for down-filled coverage.

It is waiting for us! We were suppose to make our way, that way the week after Christmas, but now things have been held up...so hang on snow...we're coming, just a bit later than expected!

Don't forget your space heater. The difference between hurricanes and snowstorms is that, during the aftermath, you can actually freeze.
