Default I'm back with another question...schools.

I heard that the high schools start in 10th grade or is it just "A" particular high school? That would be perfect for one of our kids if that's the case. If it's just one school, which one is it and is it a good one and would it be in the zone we are hoping to find a home?

Thank you to everyone for answering my many questions!

I think Sparkman High (Harvest area) has a separate 9th grade academy or something. Other than that one, I'm not familiar with any high schools that are not 9-12.

Update: I think Bob Jones may have on of those newfangled 9th grade schools as well. Someone who actually lives in Madison can probably clarify.

I'm aware of 2 High Schools in the 3 area school systems.

In Madison City Schools, Bob Jones High is 10-12th. 9th is in the middle schools.

In Madison County Schools, Sparkman High is 10-12th. 9th grade is directly across the street at the Sparkman 9th Grade School. The Sparkman 9th Grade School opened in either 2006 or 2007.

In Huntsville City Schools, I think all are 9-12th.

Both Sparkman (Madison County) and Bob Jones (Madison City) would be good school zones. You can possibly find the acreage (and zoning) you want for your kennels and a newer house plus the price range in the Sparkman zone. I doubt in the Bob Jones zone unless you opt for an older home or a higher price tag (or both). Try www.valleymls.com to do a search. I can't seem to access the site right now--must be down.

There was a story on local news last week about moving a road so Bob Jones 9th grade academy and high school could be merged. The story was actually about who should pay for moving the road; the school board or the city government.

Are you talking about Sparkman or Bob Jones? I was not aware that Bob Jones had a 9th Grade Academy.

They would have been talking about Ford Chapel Road which splits the Sparkman High campus from Sparkman 9th Grade School.

In Madison City, 9th graders go to either Liberty or Discovery, but once in the 9th are considered Bob Jones students and can participate in athletics/extracurricular.
There is no plan nor is there a "9th grade academy" in Madison. The plan is a new 10th-12th high school off County Line Rd.

The plan for Madison City when the new high school is built off of County Line Rd is to move the 9th graders into their respective schools. That will make the middle schools 7-8 only and perhaps allow them to include 6th grade depending upon how crowded the elementary schools might become.
