Just relocated here and looking to get internet hooked up. So far all I've seen is comcast, who can't find my house, and Knology, who seems rather slow (8 mbps down is the best you can do?)

who do you use? companies to avoid? give me the scoop!

thanks

Try Hiwaay (www.hiwaay.com) - the business section.
Of course there's AT&T.
Hiwaay uses AT&T lines, but has fewer (from what I hear) lags and down times. Their customer service has been fantastic for me.

We have Knology and never have any issues. Their customer service has been very good, thankfully.

Looking at their residential pricing, they are more expensive than AT&T. I have 6.0 with AT&T in Huntsville/Limestone County which is out of Athens. In 2.5 years, I believe there has been one short outage and one router power supply die, which they replaced for no charge.

I have been very frustrated with ATT - In our apartment we had many issues of slow connection speed, even with their top 6mbps connection. Having moved to our house in Madison City, they don't offer the 6mbps service, just 3mbps.

We are going to switch to knology. BTW, knology's top speed is 25mbps with their edge package.

Given the choice, I'd probably go with cable internet, but we don't have that option.

I have 12.0 with ATT, and I haven't had a problem with them.

What package do you have, I thought ATT only did up to 6.0 with their DSL?

I have ATT u-verse for phone and internet. They ran fiberoptic cables through my subdivision not too long ago; that's the only way you can get it if they do the upgraded wiring, I think. They go higher than 12.0, but I don't remember what the top speed is.

Interesting, I heard they were introducing uverse through HSV and Madison, just wasn't sure it was active yet. I wonder where they have done, where they are doing next and what their schedule is...
