Max wind gust forecast from MHX. Not a big area of over 60mph but enough for evacuations to be underway Outer banks. They're expecting 98mph wind gusts on barrier islands. Think of the surge of water also. Hope those folks are ready and tourists stay away.

I predict it's all hype as usual and we'll get a little wind and rain. In the meantime my phone is blowing up with alerts, the weather alert crawl has been scrolling across the TV for hours, and the local news has gone I to full disaster hype...

Agree but then you have those who die and get injured so most of what you see is for them. Be grateful your smart enough to understand the consequences or impacts.

Also it may seem like hype because we have so many sources now. My Twitter feed is lit up from hundreds of sources but to some people they might only see 1 or 2 things. Lol

And always know what areas are prone to what. this is mostly for coastal communities. l Hope nothing too bad for you. Stay safe. Keep us posted.

Is this rather early for a hurricane? Or is just that this one is near land?

Season began June 1st. Probably late with this being the first one.
-------------------------

With dewpoints in the 70s and a Hurricane barreling down it sure must feel tropical there. Well defined Eye. What a structure!!!
