okay, so i have a good friend that is a master mechanic at hyundai. He recently when to a meeting and schooling about the new Hyundai genesis. We have repeartidly had the discussion of how nice of a car it is, and how its going to surprise consumers specially interested in Bimmers. But my question was always, do you think people are going to scared to buy such a nice luxury (in middle class terms) car from a name like hyundai? ill attach a link so people can view the specs and seriously...let me know...is this going to be a good thing, or a bad thing. For both Hyundia or the runner of BMW
now i know, of course no one can match BMW when it comes to it, but its just an interesting thought if they could actually have 3 and 5 series potential buyers turning towards the genesis.

it's a Big Flop. Why? Gas Prices! Just like the Pontiac G8. V8's in sedans are going away. Look what FoMoCO is doing with the new MKS. Yes, granted the yamaha V8 they wanted to use was way too expensive to build and fit on the chassis of the MKS. Ford played it smart and placed a turbocharger in their new Duratec V6.
Comparing the Hyundai Genesis and the BMW, like you said, there is no comparison. But actual BMW owners turning towards the Hyundai is like saying," I shop at Diesel for my Jeans but I can't help but think of the $10 jeans from Dickies at the Super K!" I think Hyundai is smoking some funny toot!
agreed. I think its good...but they specifically advertise and talk about it saying this "5 series quality for 3 series price"
its just very interesting how its going to do. Although my local shop has been managing to sell them before even in, i think its out of curiousity and not much more

I agree on that as well. I don't think it's going to be a success. A novelty maybe, but no success! I'm waiting to see what the car mags/blogs will say about the new RWD coupe from said company. This should be interesting!
I doubt the Genesis will draw any potential BMW owners to a Hyundai. If you're looking at a $50K+ vehicle, then you want something with a brand name, not a Hyundai. The Genesis might draw in potential buyers looking for a Camry, Impala, or Maxima but defintely not the upper-crust BMW crowd.
NOBODY who is in the market for a BMW will even consider a Hyundai. Hyundai brings to mind words like cheap, generic, economy, etc. Nothing a BMW driver would want to be associated with.
When Hyundai runs ads comparing themselves to BMW and Lexus...its not really to lure in BMW and Lexus buyers....its to make the poor schleps buying a Hyundai feel like they're buying a luxury car.
If you have to ask what kind of mileage the v8 luxury sport sedan gets, you're probably not the target market.
Has nothing to do with it. BMW puts it right out there!
