Hi all,

My husband is most likey getting a job at Melaleuca so we are going to be moving up there from SLC like soon! We will probably be renting at first but already have a relocation specialist to help us with that. I'm wondering about preschools? My daughter was enrolled at one near our home for this fall, is it still possible for her to go to one?
What's Idaho Falls like? Are the schools good? Are their better places then others to live? Anyone? Anyone?
Thanks so much!

Oh one more thing: (for right now ) Is there a health food store there? Is Winder up there? What other kind of stores are there? Is there a craft store? What about movie theaters? Malls?

Can't help you with the school questions - no children yet. But for some of your other questions:

Health food stores: there are two or three here in town, rather small but not terribly expensive (although above market value for a typical supermarket, as would be expected). Best affordable organic food selection (IMO) is at Fred Meyer, of which IF has one.

Winder: If you mean Winder Farms, no, we don't have an outlet, nor do we have Whole Foods or Trader Joe's - closest link to those will be back in SLC.

Other stores: if you mean grocery, we have one each of Fred Meyer, Smith's (Kroger's), and three Albertson's, and of course, two Super WalMarts (one on each side of town).

Movie theaters: one googooplex (Edwards) in Ammon, along with a smaller one nearby (Paramount). We also have a drive-in (Sky-Vu) open during the summer months.

Malls: one, Grand Teton Mall, on the east end of town (butts up to Ammon, on Hitt Rd. @ 17th St.). Standard fare: Sears, JCPennys, Dillards, Barnes & Noble, etc.

Craft stores: other than Joann Fabrics, not sure I can help you on that one.

Hope this gets the ball rolling - most of this can be found, and in more detail, by using Google.

Almost forgot: we do have a connection for a CSA (community-sponsored agriculture) called Bountiful Baskets (www.bountifulbaskets.com) as well as two full-size farmers' markets that run during the summer and early fall months, as well as a few local fruit stands that pop up now and again (look up Scoresby Farms).

Idaho Falls is a nice, small community (in my opinion). The schools seemed good to me as a student. I don't know about preschools. In general, I think the south side of Idaho Falls would be good for you since it's close to Melaleuca, with nice homes, schools, and safe neighborhoods. The numbered streets between Boulevard and Holmes are pretty decent but I wouldn't live in the other sections of the numbered streets or the lettered streets (A, B, C, etc). Overall I think subdivisions are safer. Craft stores - Michael's, Robert's and Mini Bazaar (you have to check that one out!). Hope you love it!
