I did the same thing in my old backyard with a huge waterfall to make noise. The 90 can be loud. There are some nice houses near the lake and that thing goes right through them. When a big rig comes down a hill with the exhaust brake then that can reverberate for a long ways. Trains too, but those are mainly north of CdA. There are some nice properties in the back of Dalton that may fill the bill and be close to town. Every time I have been in Cougar it has been quiet. Something off Meadowbrook Loop would be nice. Don't forget if you get too close to the lake then you will hear 502 big blocks, jetskis and duck hunters. Think about winter access too. Some of these roads get smaller and steeper the deeper you go into the woods. There are some nice areas north of Hayden known as the rimrock. Maybe you want to recreate your version of "The Shining", so check out 12-6489

All good tips thanks elousv. I checked out 12-6489, geez what a house. Looks like about 1/2 finished palace with 10 bedrooms... my wife would colapse! When I get up there again in October I will have a few specific areas to target. Thanks again
