My wife and I currently live in western Washington and have to get out of here. Both have retirement incomes and I'm wondering how much of a hit our incomes will take by the state. WA has no state income tax but other taxes and cost of living is out of sight. I have spent a lot of time in Idaho and found most of the people I met were super friendly and very helpful. Plus I love to hunt and hunting in Washington is no longer worthwhile. Any recommendations on areas in western Idaho to find country living, good neighbors and some decent hunting areas both big game and upland birds. (gee, I'm not asking too much am I??) Thanks in advance.

I tried a few months ago to get some tax info, but no one was very forthcoming. I have found through my own research that social security income is not taxed, but that other retirement income appears to be taxed as normal income subject to whatever deductions you have. And Idaho's income tax is rather stiff. Here is the site:

Idaho Income Tax Rates and Tax Brackets, 2012-2013

Good luck!
