I LOVE that song!

Thumbs up The Idaho Tater Song

Oh, oh, spud, way you bake at five, gonna add sour cream, gonna add some chive.
Hey, hey, tater, when you're fixed that way, watch your butter drip, can't keep away.

[Chorus:]
Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah. Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah.
I gotta roll, can't stand still, got an empty stomach, can't get my fill
Eyes that shine burning red, dreams of you all through my head.
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Hey, Bannock, oh, Blazer, pretty Classic, tell me all the types you know
Hey, Milva, oh, Norland, pretty Ida, tell me all the types you sow
Didn't take too long 'fore I found out, that I love taters inside and out.
Spent my money, all of my cash, had to eat them all from roasted to mashed.
I don't know but I been told, a big-Idaho Russet is good for your soul.

[Chorus]

All I ask for when I pray, steady rollin' taters gonna come my way.
Need a stuffed bacon cheddar in my hand, won't tell me no lies, make me a happy man.
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
Oh! Oh! Elousv's Tater Song! I love it! I just sang along with the band:

Hey, no memories of high school songs? Here's one, from Idaho Falls High School! Can anyone sing it? (And their school paper is....The Spud!)

Quote:
IFHS SCHOOL SONG
BY PAUL HAACK (1927)
Dear old I.F. high, we are with you;
You’re the one we are all fighting for.
On the field in victory we’ll cheer you:
In defeat your name we’ll never mar.
We’ll be true to the ones who uphold you;
And keep your colors on high.
When it’s time to depart;
We’ll keep close to our heart;
The memories of I.F. High, Rah, Rah, Rah
Gold and black are the symbols of might;
Never to be downed by a foe.
Obtained by the virtues of work and fight;
Our aim is to always hold them so.
You will find sportsmanship in our athletes;
On our men we can always rely.
We will build for you a name;
And we’ll hold on high your fame,
To the last of your days, I.F. High, Rah, Rah, Rah

I still can! After 50 years!
It's a catchy tune.

Our State song is a good one, too, a beautiful waltz. My friend John Hansen used to fingerpick it on the guitar as an instrumental, and played it regularly in performance.
He said it always made him feel grand when the audience would spontaneously start singing the chorus:

And we go singing
singing of you
All our lives through
Oh, proudly, too

We'll go singing
singing of you
Singing of Idaho.

In the third verse of "What a Way to Go" Ray Kennedy sings this lyric -

"I got french-fried by a waitress in Idaho".

Also, in "My House" by Kacy Musgraves, Idaho is listed among a string of other states that the songwriter has visited in their RV.
