Greetings! We are in our house for the week, see the potential snow inbound.....and thinking we might be smart to get some firewood. We have some left from the previous owners but figure we will use much of it this winter and would like to get some curing. Any recommendations for where/how to get firewood in the Sagle area? I must admit, having grown up heating a 200 year old New England house with wood I have to adjust to burning soft woods--that was a cardinal sin until now!
I saw an earlier thread on this (6 years old) but it was for the Boise area.
If you do a Google search, you can find several places that will sell you a log truck full. If you can do your own cutting and splitting.
A cord is a lot cheaper that way and by the time you get through the whole truck load, the wood will be really dry. It takes us about 10 years to go through a truck load. Firewood around here seems to be high priced if you buy it by the cord and I've seen ads that are honest enough to tell you they are selling face cords.
We harvest our own firewood from our property in Sagle. It's a lot of work, but as the saying goes heating with wood will warm you twice: once when you cut it, and again when you burn it.
You can find some good deals on Craig's list. If you are on Facebook you can join the Sandpoint Yard Sale and/ or Sagle Yard Sale pages. People frequently advertise firewood for sale there.
