Yup. Where NID begins is more a state of mind than anything; some folks think it begins farther south than other folks think. I always though of New Meadows, as it's halfway between the equator and the north pole.

Others think it starts farther north at Lewiston. Newbies think it begins at CDA.

McCall isn't far from New Meadows, and it's all very beautiful country. Idaho is a whacking beautiful state from top to bottom.

Yea, Idaho really is nice....I never gave it a second thought due to all the publicity about it being the potato state and nothing more. it really is a hidden gem and mostly because of the original inhabitants. I have been hearing from some of the original inhabitants that some of the immigrants are brining and clinging to their previous culture, which is worrisome for us.

Yeah, the Nez Perce were very nice to Lewis and Clark. They tell me it's gone downhill since then.

Yeah when you read the history of it the Nez Perce sure were dealt some dirty cards. It's what you get when you bring a government and greed together. The Nez Perce were such wonderful people with a high respect for the land. Some folks today at least do care for and take care of the land. But so many don't give a rats patootie is sad to see. But of all the areas I've seen around the country Idahoans are some of the most "Preservation" oriented I've noted.

....and the Couer d' Alene, and many others, think the same.

We just bought a house in new meadows... while we have enjoyed SW Colorado the last few years, Im really looking forward to getting back up into the northern Rockies!

Btw, the Nez Perce just bought zims hot Springs in new meadows. Unfortunately, they can’t get anyone from the tribe to go down there and work yet, so the past ownership continue to operate the place. ANyway, I’m glad they got an important piece of their native land back and wish them luck.
