I was looking for a small place for retirement, maybe just as a second place for part of the year. So I was looking at some permanently set up RVs / Park models on lots, not hobby farm size stuff with many acres. Went to look at a park model in a small development that I found online MLS. Didn't buy it but found a couple "for sale by owner" signs in the same development. Knocked on a couple doors and asked questions when I found folks out in the driveway and found out many of the places might be for sale even though not advertised. Found a custom built 1 bedroom house, at the end of a cul de sac, with just the right kind of outbuildings I needed. Owner will be moving to Senior housing eventually, and I'm in no rush, so we have a verbal agreement for when the time comes.
