I met a friend at the local grill this morning. He's 80 years old. He and his wife also live in our town. He said he got a letter in the mail yesterday from the State of Idaho stating that he was receiving a direct deposit of $600 per household person (that would mean $1200 for he and his wife) from the State fund for COVID recovery. I have not heard a word about such a program. The ONLY thing I heard was in the governor Little's speech saying that our 2021 taxes will offer a lower rate of property tax to give us relief. But I'd not heard anything from anyone about a recovery stimulus check Idaho residents would be getting. Anyone heard of this or gotten one of those letters from the state about a direct deposit occurring for them?

I'm thinking it is some type of scam. There is a thread in the CA forum asking the very same question. Whatever the case, DO NOT give out any personal information. You already know that.

Ask your friend if that letter has “Notice Number: 1444-B” in the right-hand corner just below the date of letter.

I am in Iowa and received the above notice this past Friday. Its definitely confusing because it sounds like we’re getting another stimulus ($600 for me), but this is really about the 2nd stimulus I received in January 2021.

I consulted with my tax attorney who said a lot of these notices are late instead of coming right after the previous stimulus payment. I’m guessing this is what your friend has.

It is looking that way. I'm not holding my breath that's for sure. There is however supposed to be a lowering of the property taxes for the 2021 tax year coming from that statement Governor Little made so at least there's something.

Same thing here in CA. We're getting messages about the 2nd stimulus being sent out ($600 each, $1200 for married couples under a certain income level), but the checks/debit cards were sent out already in January. But the 3rd stimulus will be going out later this month.

Just watch out if some of you didn't think you received the 2nd stimulus. You may have received a debit card, not a check or a direct deposit.

I read an article that the IRS was sending out notices to make sure a person received a stimulus....

Not sure why the state would send one since they do not send stimulus payments to people.
