Default How about Hayden Lake for a big family?

Any thoughts on Hayden Lake area?
The schools rate very high.
How is the annual weather there as opposed to Long Island NY?
Thanks.
Amy

Nice area. Great place to raise a family. Lots of activities, etc. Don't know your weather in Long Island...only been to NYC and that was in the spring...what do you want to know about the weather here?

Default Great for families--

Weather, harder to say, since I am not familiar with yours. But here:
January, cold, sometimes snowy. This year the lake froze, but usually temps are around 30 degrees and the snow comes and goes. Moderate humidity.
February, warming. By March it's raining, which lasts into April (very wet springs here). We picnic in April--temps in the 60s--and according to my journal, we once swam in the lake. May/June--temps in the mid 60s-low 80s.
Summer temps hang around 80-85 except for a few hot days, plenty of sun and we spend the entire summer at the lake beach. Starts cooling in September. Halloween is nice enough for the standard activities to be pleasant. We do get some winter snow, but it varies widely year to year. Very little wind here, though it can blow now and then.

Kinda similar weather in some ways...both areas have 4 seasons. But North Idaho is dryer and has less extremes...not as many real hot & humid days in summer and not as many significant snow storms in winter.
