Look at John Deere 310's and Case 580"s and right now in this economy especially in California there are alot available as many people are dumping them to unload their debt and try to save their homes. A 6-10 year old JD 310 will bury any of the toy tractors I've seen. Kind of like comparing a good Polaris or Yamaha quad to one of the Chinese jobs.
I bought a used JD 3400 telehandler for building my new house on a mountiantop here in the U.P. Works great for handling our 300 plus inches of the white stuff. It digs, it plows, it lifts, it grades....all at a cost, expensive when it breaks as its a German tractor, no longer imported by JD. I work it most every day building a new driveway aside the mountian ( 3 year project ). You can never get too big a tractor, I have found that out while moving 9,000 lb rock for landscaping.

Happens all the time....2 1/2 yard bucket is too big to fill with a 20,000lb machine, meant to move livestock wast and hay bales..... Its always interesting when the boom comes back in and the back wheels return to Terra firma.
