In order to get WIC in the state of Massachusetts, you need:
  • a picture ID or other identification
  • proof of address, such as a lease or utility bill
  • proof of income for all household members with income (pay stubs, tax returns, etc.)
Note: If you or a family member is getting TAFDC, food stamps, or MassHealth, bring your award notice or benefit card instead.
  • medical information from your doctor
  • birth certificates and shot records for children who are applying for WIC, if available
I don't see anything about US Citizenship.... and the process is the same for every state...

People who think those folks come here to work so hard and support their families are delusional. Well, their families are supported..but...

We are the ones footing their bills.

I'm sure there are plenty of illegal immigrants that work to support their families. But those that aren't and are draining our social services need to be addressed. Maybe we can make a law stating that the children of illegal immigrants need to have been citizens for five years before they're elligible for benefits?
The ones who live here apart from their children sometimes are supporting their children - it's not a good situation however for a parent to live 3000 miles away from children and never see them, not be home raising them, money isn't everything, children need their parents in the home.

The high cost of living here makes it virtually impossible for people who are here illegally, accepting nothing but the lowest wage jobs and often sending much of their pay home to support families there to support families here. The hospital bill for the maternity stay alone would be as much as they had to scrape together to pay the cartel traffickers who smuggled them in.

The whole purpose of bringing in illegal labor is that it's ultra cheap, doesn't expect health insurance or other benefits, overtime pay or the rest. If an employer is willing to pay minimum wage and provide health insurance benefits, then breaking the law and bringing in semi-trailer loads of cheap illegal workers wouldn't be worth it as they could find American workers or be able to bring in legal H2A visa workers.

The cost of living in the USA is far too high for people who can't even make it in their own country where they speak the language and know the culture to make it without massive amounts of government subsidies.

Illegals themselves couldn't afford to take those ultra-low paying jobs if they were trying to support families here without WIC, food stamps, Medicaid and free housing.

America and Americans are too stupid to wake up, for gosh sakes we have a stupid, ignorant, idiotic Government that uses illegals for their own benefits. And we are suppose to thank our Government for what exactly. Wait till this problem is no longer being able to handle it, because it is so out of control, our Govenment needs a reality check, maybe they should park their asse- on the border in Arizona, and see how they like what is coming thru, and the trash.

You know what the problem is? The illegals are not taking away middle class jobs. Once that starts to happen in large numbers, then a lot people will start to care. But it will happen, especially since in some states, illegals have access to college education. Right now, they are taking away jobs mainly from blacks and they are not people known to be politically involved. The middle classes are and if they start to feel their jobs being threatened and their communities being taken over (think Hazleton, PA and Maricopa County), then they take action

The record amount was an increase of almost $3 million from November 2009, and represents 22 percent of all CalWORKs and Food Stamp issuances in L.A. county.

I'm sure the integrity of the moral aliens will prevent them from using some if not most of that aid rendered.
You STILL plying this game...?

Maybe we should appoint a conservator for the child's[American citizen child] benifits. How does that sound? Should a third actor be hired at tax-payers expense to oversee the child's monies?

Get freaking real

Why not? Why should an illegal alien be allowed to collect money from US taxpayers just because they gave birth here? Give the money in trust to a legal guardian. Or better yet forbid American citizenship to anyone who doesn't have at least one parent here legally. The brazen arrogance of some people never ceases to amaze me. The purpose of our immigration laws is to provide for the needs of American citizens, not create an opening for a law breaking migrant to claim access to the American public tax till.

Good idea. Rewarding illegals lifelong welfare handouts just for getting here in time to give birth is utter foolishness.

No illegal should be getting welfare handouts. And the baby obviously isn't getting the money.

I would go further and just deny welfare handouts altogether.

Illegals are supposed to be coming here to work for dirt wages - not to be having babies they cannot afford so that they can stay here and collect welfare.

These are obviously very able-bodied people coming for the good life of welfare handouts. Cut them off.

Yes, we are, and until the loophole called the 14th is shut off, changes made that ensure at least one Parent is here legally to obtain social services we will continue to "play".

The Pro-Illegals keep saying illegal aliens cannot obtain social services. We are pointing out that they indeed do.

[LEFT]Sarukhan said: “We are concerned that some of this local or state legislation could lead down a slippery slope of racial profiling.”

What he really means is that:

"We are concerned that our citizens will actually be sent back to Mexico. If that happens we will lose the remittances they siphon out of the U.S. economy and we may actually not only lose that revenue but then also be forced to actually support our own citizens. This is something that we are not prepared to do under any cricumstances."
