Don't mention the "Donner Passage"[the Donner Party] which is part of the trail.

The problem is, the federal government sends billions of dollars into these regions that advertise for illegals to come. Medicaid and food stamps and all the other programs that assist the illegals bring in money to a region even if it adds to the federal debt. Not only does unlimited cheap labor benefit the employers who make bigger profits by benefitting from cheap labor, the Medicaid fills hospital beds, the food stamps make groceries filled with shoppers.

Good article about this topic:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/mar/30/obama-punts-as-utah-g...

"To date, the only reaction from the Department of Justice to Utah’s
blatant usurpation of the federal government's exclusive authority
over the power to regulate immigration has been a vague statement that
they are “monitoring” the situation".

Are you saying that State food stamp and Medicaid programs are funded through federal tax dollars?

Disappearing federal Medicaid funds force states to cut back - Mar. 28, 2011

"States regularly get matching funds from the federal government to help cover Medicaid burdens."

SNAP/Food Stamps « Food Research & Action Center

"The SNAP/Food Stamp Program is the largest nutrition assistance program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The goal of the program is “to alleviate hunger and malnutrition … by increasing food purchasing power for all eligible households who apply for participation” as stated in the Food Stamp Act of 1977, as amended (P.L. 108-269). The program provides monthly benefits to eligible low-income families which can be used to purchase food. Through the electronic benefit transfer systems (EBT) the use of food stamp “coupons” is no longer the means in which a client receives their benefits. EBT replaces paper coupons through use of a benefits card, similar to a bank card. USDA reports that all 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico are now using EBT systems.
The federal government pays 100 percent of food stamp program benefits. Federal and State governments share administrative costs (with the federal government contributing nearly 50 percent)."

When faced with the facts do you see things any differently? Or does it make it easier to swallow when the country as a whole is burdened with these rising costs?

I couldn't get the story to come up.

Funny how links to unpopular illegal stories seem to dissappear so quickly. That happens in our local news all the time. Especially if they allow comments.
